Orono Accessibility Project

Clarington Library, Museums & Archives invites members of the Clarington community to the Orono Library Open House on Saturday, April 6 at 11am to celebrate the completion of the Orono Accessibility Project. Tours and refreshments will be available, and members of the CLMA board and administration will be on hand to answer questions. The newly placed Orono Millstone will also be unveiled.

Public accessibility has been enhanced with the installation of a fully accessible entrance and universal washroom. The upgrades were accomplished by renovating the library’s current non-fiction room at the back of the house, which used to be the summer kitchen. In addition to the accessibility enhancements, the shelving, flooring, furnishings, and décor were refreshed to modernize the space and honor the unique and beautiful heritage of the building. The renovation process started on Tuesday, September 5

The Orono Accessibility Project demonstrates CLMA’s commitment to create vibrant and rich spaces where all community members can connect, learn, and thrive. In addition to Municipal funding, the project was made possible in part due to community donations. People can help make an impact in their community by donating at www.cplma.ca/donations.

Everyone is invited to experience the renovated Orono Library at the open house celebration on Saturday, April 6 at 11am. Tours and refreshments will be available, and members of the CLMA board and administration will be on hand to answer questions.
