DIY Book Club

You and your book club, family, or friends can pick from a range of titles, including literary classics and some of our very own Book Club in a Bag titles!

All titles are available through hoopla or OverDrive for simultaneous use, so everyone can read at the same time. Get together through a phone or video call and discuss your read with book club questions!

  • The Library Fish (new!): Ever wonder what happens when the library is closed? Join Mackenzie to find out the journey that a Library Fish takes when no one is in the library!
  • Twinkle Makes a Wish (Fairy Day): Join Mackenzie for a fairy filled Storytime Short in celebration of Fairy Day on June 24, and see if you can find out what Twinkle wished for!
  • How to Find a Unicorn: Join Mackenzie as she reads a book on how to find a unicorn!
  • Almost Always Best, Best Friends: Everyone fights with their best friend sometimes. This book will help you understand what to do after you get into an argument with your best friend.
  • Perfectly Pegasus: Join Mackenzie as she reads a book about a little Pegasus named Nimbus and her journey to find a friend.
  • Bitty Bot: Time for bedtime! Enjoy a robot action song to help get those wiggles out before you get ready for sleep.
  • World Turtle Day: Celebrate World Turtle Day with a turtle themed Storytime Short.
  • Dear Little One: Join Amy as she reads a book about the earth and sings a song about a flower garden.
  • Opposites: We'll read about some very different friends and sing our favourite story time song all about opposites!
  • Secret Agent Guy: Get tips on how to channel your inner secret agent in this super secretive Storytime Short!
  • Pets: See what happens when Pug, Cat, Pig Squirrel, and Robin hide from a thunder storm. Then practice clapping with Amy as she sings about favorite household pets getting into trouble.
  • Earth Day: Join Mackenzie as we celebrate Earth Day with a story and song!
  • Hooray for Spring: Spring is here and we're excited! We'll read a story to celebrate the season and Carrie will sing a song of spring!
  • Little Pip: Little Pip meets a special new family member in this Storytime Short, and Carrie shares a penguin poem!
  • Dancing: Get your dancing shoes ready, it's time for a Storytime Short. Today we'll watch Langston become a professional dancer and then bust a move ourselves!
  • Love: Join Amy as she reads a book and sings a song about love in honour of Valentine's Day! She shares a lesson in her book that Love sometimes can be hiding right under your nose in everyday places.
  • Bear Snores On: Join Mackenzie to find out what happens when you wake a sleeping bear!
  • Book's Big Adventure: Do you ever wonder what happens to the books in the library? Well, join Mackenzie as she reads about a book's adventure.
  • One Too Many: Challenge your friends and family with this fun game of I Spy on the farm. You can practice your counting and see who is the fastest guessing the animal!
  • Santa Mouse: Here comes Santa....Mouse? Join Elora as she reads us a story all about one of Santa's tiniest helpers.
  • Hanukkah Hop: Celebrate the holiday season with CPL staff. Amy offers some book suggestions on learning about Hanukkah, reads a book about dancing through the holidays, and introduces some spinning to a wonderful dreidel song.
  • The Paper Bag Princess: Join Robyn as she reads one of her favourite stories, the Paper Bag Princess, and we sing a song with a dragon!
  • Who Goes There?: It's tough being brave when you're so little! Emma reads a book and sings a song about mice who do just that. Get ready to clap along!
  • Counting: In honour of Counting Week, join Clarington Public Library staff as they count their way through this Storytime Short!
  • Stomp: Come stomp with us and learn some new moves with our elephant friends!
  • Unicorns: Come along on a magical journey with unicorns, dancing, and lots of sparkles!

Sing along with soothing songs and listen to bedtime stories. Perfect for watching in your pajamas!

  • Going to Bed: We'll share a story and sing a classic nursery rhyme to your little ones before they go off to dreamland.

  • Family Storytime, April 6 (new!): Get your hiking boots ready and join Carrie on a woodland adventure! We'll help her identify animals and read a story about some fun loving raccoons.
  • Family Storytime, March 9: It's time for a Storytime all about family! Join Robyn as she enlists her family to help her learn to make a perfect bao, and we'll make ourselves a family tree and sing about the people we love!
  • Family Storytime, March 2: Join us on an adventure as we use our senses to find hidden treasures all around us, and Carrie reads a story about a magical object from the sky!
  • Family Storytime, January 27: It's a cold and snowy day at the Library! Join Robyn for a family Storytime all about the adventures we have in the snow!
  • Family Storytime, November 25: This Storytime is all about Pets! Twinkle is ready for her first pet, but he's not what she expected!
  • Family Storytime, November 3: Listen to a story about family and play an interactive game with Mrs. Amy as we virtually stroll through a park!
