Mayor's Gala, For the Love of Art

Mayor’s Gala For the Love of Art is an initiative which showcases local artists, musical entertainment, cocktails, light buffet, and a creative silent auction. Join us for an evening that will captivate your senses and creativity. This artistic event includes many unique works of art - jewellery, pottery, metal, sculpture, photography, poetry, fabric, and glass to name a few.

For the Love of Art is a fundraising event on behalf and in support of The Visual Arts Centre and A Gift of Art, two exceptional not-for-profit agencies.

Caregivers and support staff for people with disabilities are admitted free of charge.

Learn to Knit!

Cost $49 for eight-class workshop series.

Learn how to knit or discover a stitching hint or two. Enjoy beginner to intermediate lessons and stitch with a group of supportive peers. 

Please bring your current project or a ball of dish cloth yarn (2 oz. cotton) and 5 mm needles to the first session.

Caregivers and support staff for people with disabilities are admitted free of charge.

Learn how to implement a responsible alcohol service and maintain a safe environment. 

Participants must complete one full six-hour course and evaluation to achieve certification. The Smart Serve Responsible Alcohol Beverage Service Training Program is approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) as a server training program for the Ontario hospitality industry.

Presented in association with Durham College. All programming is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.

Learn the safe way to handle and prepare food for a variety of kitchens and environments, including restaurants, take-out, catering, food trucks, or working directly with high-risk groups such as children and the elderly. 

Participants must complete one full six-hour course and evaluation to achieve certification. The Food Safety Training Certificate meets the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and all Health Departments across the province.
