About the Festival

Now in its fifteenth consecutive year, Winter WonderLearn is a day of free family fun! Children and their families can enjoy Family Day together at an event that celebrates Clarington and the family learning opportunities that thrive here. Shake off the winter blahs at this interactive learning festival. Local organizations offer demonstrations and workshops in literacy, arts, sports, history, science, nature, safety, and health.

Throughout the event, families can explore interactive activities, make a craft or two, and have fun together. The festival allows people to learn about the local organizations that make up our community, learn something new, and spend time together as a family!

Angus Mowat Award

We're incredibly proud and excited to announce that the Library has received a provincial Ontario Public Library Service Award, the Angus Mowat Award of Excellence, for the Winter WonderLearn Festival!

Managed by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Ontario Public Library Service Awards identify and promote creative public library service ideas. The Angus Mowat Award of Excellence recognizes a commitment to excellence in the delivery of public library service.

Clarington Public Library received the award for its well-known annual Winter WonderLearn Festival, which has showcased community partners and focused on free educational and interactive family activities for the past fifteen years.

This year’s Festival, which celebrates the theme of “Music and Sound”, is right around the corner for those who want to experience it for themselves. Children and their families can shake off the winter blahs, enjoy interactive demonstrations and activities offered by local organizations, and catch a show with special guest, Juno-nominated Music by Jake. The Municipality of Clarington is also offering a free swim at the Courtice Community Complex from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The Festival is made possible through the generous support of Ontario Power Generation.

For more information, please see the Library's press release.
