Summer Reading Club: Victoria Welcome!

Thank you to everyone who made the TD Summer Reading Club a huge success! We had 1165 members this year, the most we've ever had! Together we read over 7400 books! Way to go everyone! Every book read was a kilometre along the Trans Canada Highway; large maps were on display in all branches so everyone could track our progress and learn interesting facts about our pitstops along the way.

With over 7400 books read by eager club members on our Read Across Challenge, we officially made it all the way from St. John's, Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia! Acting Mayor and City Councillor for Victoria Geoff Young was proud to to welcome us into his beautiful city in a video message!

Congratulations to all the young readers who took part in this program and to all Library Staff for helping make this happen right here in Clarington! You are all doing a wonderful job for the youth of today, right here at home!

As an avid reader myself, I find comfort knowing our young people, in this crazy world of technology, have this wonderful opportunity to read their way across this vast country of ours! I'm sure, like me, you will carry the love of books with you throughout your lives!

Continued success in all you do and enjoy our fantastic libraries all across this wonderful municipality. Don't forget, the love of reading a good book will change your lives forever!
