Tax Clinic

No charge.

Get the tax help you need at a free clinic, hosted in partnership with the Durham CPA Association. 

Volunteer Chartered Professional Accountants will provide personal tax preparation assistance for low-income individuals during a 45 minute session. 

The clinic is available for individuals without dependents with a gross income of less than $35,000, or with dependents (including a spouse or equivalent) with a gross household income of less than $45,000.

What to Bring to your Appointment? 

  • All tax information slips (e.g., T2201, T4, T4E, T4 (OAS), T5, T3, RC62, T5007, etc.);
  • Final property tax bill if home owner, or rent receipt from landlord if renting;
  • Medical receipts, including those for dental care, eye glasses, prescription medications;
  • Any charitable donation receipts; and
  • Last year's notice of assessment.

Eligibility

Clients will be asked to present documentation at the start of the appointment to verify they are qualified for this service. You must meet the criteria at the time of the appointment, or you will not be served.

Volunteers do not prepare complex returns, such as those relating to self-employment income, business or rental income and expenses, capital gains or losses, employment expenses, or for individuals who have interest income greater than $1,000, have filed for bankruptcy, or are deceased within the year. 

Assistance is provided for the 2016 tax year only.

Couples and families may share one booking; multiple time slots are not required.​ If you need to book multiple slots, please contact Information Services directly.
